There is one thing in your business right now—at this very second—that could easily double your revenue.

Not long term, not “someday,” but this year. And dare I say, even next week!

The kicker? Almost all of you are avoiding it.

If your bookings feel inconsistent, if leads keep ghosting you, or if you feel like you’re always chasing the next inquiry, I need you to stay with me. Because once you see this, you won’t be able to unsee it. You don’t have a lead problem; you have a leadership problem.

Here are the 5 reasons why mastering the “suck” of follow-up will transform your wedding business from a hobby that keeps you busy into a profitable company you actually love.

1. Stop Hiding Behind “Busy Work”

It’s easy to spend all day tweaking your website or posting to Instagram because it feels safe. But real business growth happens when you act like a CEO and tackle the awkward stuff.

“It forces you to act like a business owner instead of hiding behind busy work.”

Most wedding pros assume that if a couple hasn’t replied to a contract, they’ve picked someone else. You emotionally move on after one email. But the truth? They probably just got busy, went back to work, or forgot! When you stop following up, you’re letting warm leads die just to stay in your comfort zone.

2. Follow-up is Leadership, Not Pressure

I hear it all the time: “Brandee, I don’t want to be pushy!” Listen to me: Following up isn’t pressure; it’s leadership. These couples already raised their hand and said they liked your work. Your job is to guide them to a decision.

“If you truly believe that you are the best solution for their wedding, why would you not continue to follow up until they tell you no or they’ve signed your contract?”

If you disappear after the consult, you aren’t being “polite”—you’re being unreliable. Show them you care about their event by staying in the conversation.

3. Never End a Consult Without a “Next Step”

This is the most tactical shift you can make today. Every single consultation should end in one of two ways: a contract goes out immediately, or you schedule a specific follow-up date right there on the call.

“You never, ever, ever end a consult with not having the next steps in place.”

Don’t say, “Reach out anytime!” Instead, say, “I know you need to talk to your fiance, so let’s set a quick follow-up call for next Friday to answer any questions.” This keeps you in the driver’s seat and prevents the “ghosting” cycle before it even starts.

4. Personalization Beats “Canned” Check-ins

If you’re sending emails that say, “Hey, just checking in!”… stop it. That’s gross. It feels like a robot and offers zero value. To stay top of mind, you need to be a human being who cares about their vision.

“Follow up with something that is very personal to them… Something to make them know, ‘Hey, this isn’t just a canned follow up. It’s not just a robot—it’s actually someone who cares about my day.'”

Send a photo of a floral arrangement you saw that reminded you of their mood board, or a tip about a venue they mentioned. When you provide value, you aren’t “annoying”; you’re helpful.

5. You Are Choosing Comfort Over Success

At the end of the day, you have to decide what stinks more: the discomfort of sending a follow-up text, or the stress of being broke.

“If you are uncomfortable following up, you’re choosing comfort over the success of your business. That’s it. Hard stop.”

Most of you don’t need more traffic or more marketing. You could double your revenue this year just by properly working the inquiries you already have.

Before You Go

I know follow-up stinks. I get frustrated by it too! But I’ll take an uncomfortable text over being burned out and broke every single day. You have worked way too hard to get these leads into your world just to let them walk out the back door because of a little awkwardness.

If you’re ready to stop guessing and start closing, my team and I want to help you find exactly where the money is leaking out of your funnel. Whether it’s your sales process, your pricing, or your follow-up flow, we’ll help you build a business that actually makes you money.

FAQ

Q1: How many times should I follow up before I stop?

Answer: In my company, we have a 60-day automated sequence, and my team sends personal touches in between. You should stay top of mind until they tell you “no” or “we went in a different direction.” We have noticed by tracking the data that couples are either gonna book within 24 to 48 hours or they’re gonna take much longer, and a lot of times it will take them up to three to five weeks to book because they just simply weren’t ready to purchase!

Q2: What if they still ghost me after multiple attempts?

Answer: It’s rude, I get it. But remember, these couples are overwhelmed. Step into their shoes—they have full-time jobs and they’re trying to plan a massive event. Don’t take it personally. Just keep showing up as the pro until the door is officially closed.

Q3: Is follow-up really enough to double my revenue?

Answer: Absolutely. Most wedding pros quit right before the finish line. If you close even 20-30% more of the leads you already have, your bank account will look completely different without you spending an extra dime on ads.

Q4: I feel like my sales process is “leaky.” How do I fix it?

Answer: If you want my team’s eyes on your business to see exactly where the money is leaking out of your funnel, I want to help you. We do free Gap Assessments every single week. You can head over to weddingproceo.com/application and book a time to chat with us!
