Doesn’t every wedding pro want to, at least, double their wedding business revenue every year?
I’m Brandee Gaar, and I’m thrilled to share with you an incredible story from one of our Wedding Pro CEO Inner Circle Accelerator students.
In this episode of the Wedding Pro CEO Podcast (#252) I had the pleasure of chatting with Paige Held, co-owner of Confetti Co Events, about how they managed to double their wedding business revenue in just one year.
Paige’s journey is filled with bold decisions, strategic risks, and insightful investments that can offer valuable lessons for any wedding business owner looking to scale and grow.
Paige Held’s story begins with a significant and risky decision: quitting her stable job in finance to join her wife Rachel full-time in running Confetti Co Events. This bold move was driven by Paige’s passion for sales and entrepreneurship, and her desire to invest fully in the business. Paige realized that to truly make an impact, she needed to be all in.
“I knew that if I could just find one or two strategies from Brandee’s coaching that would help us make money, it would cover the cost of the Accelerator program. And believe me, we’ve learned more than one strategy and made much more than just one sale,” Paige shared.
The decision to leave a secure job came with its challenges. Paige and Rachel faced financial uncertainties, especially with a newborn baby. However, their belief in the business and commitment to making it work kept them motivated. Paige’s background in finance and sales became a valuable asset, allowing her to handle the business side of things while Rachel focused on the creative aspects.
In 2022, Confetti Co Events generated $138,000 in revenue. Fast forward to mid-2024, they had already surpassed $230,000, with expectations to hit $300,000 by year-end. This remarkable growth was no accident. It was the result of deliberate actions and investments, particularly in the Wedding Pro CEO Inner Circle Accelerator program.🤗
“We did an entire $138,000 last year. Just to be where we’re at today, hoping to get into the threes, closer to the fours by the end of the year, is great,” Paige noted.
One of the first significant steps Paige and Rachel took was to reframe their mindset. They decided to treat Confetti Co Events as a real business, not just a passion project. This included back-filing for an S Corp, putting themselves on payroll, and consistently meeting with a CPA.
These actions helped them to structure their business professionally and create a stable financial foundation.
Another critical strategy was delegating responsibilities. Paige took over sales and business operations, allowing Rachel to focus on the creative side. This clear division of roles ensured that each aspect of the business received the attention it needed.
For other wedding business owners, finding complementary skill sets, either through partnerships or hiring, can be a game-changer.
Investing in the Wedding Pro CEO Inner Circle Accelerator was a pivotal decision for Paige and Rachel. The program provided them with the tools, resources, and community support needed to scale their business. From networking with other wedding pros to gaining insights from experts, the Accelerator helped them implement effective growth strategies.
“Your Facebook ads are incredible. After seeing them repeatedly, I knew I needed the help, and it was the best investment we made,” Paige shared.
Paige was candid about the financial struggles they faced after she quit her job. They accumulated credit card debt and faced uncertainties. However, their determination and resilience paid off. They continuously sought ways to improve and grow, never letting setbacks deter their progress.
Hiring the right team members was another challenge. Paige and Rachel knew they needed to build a strong team to scale their business. They hired a lead planner and other assistants, learning valuable lessons along the way.
Paige emphasized the importance of calling references and verifying their credibility as essential steps in their hiring process.
“We hired our first lead planner, Elena, and she’s fantastic. But we also learned to call references after some hiring mishaps,” Paige recounted.
Being part of the Wedding Pro CEO community provided Paige and Rachel with much-needed support and inspiration. Surrounding themselves with like-minded professionals helped them stay motivated and encouraged, especially during tough times.
“Being surrounded by other people who are trying to do the damn thing is really helpful. It keeps you going, especially when times are tough,” Paige emphasized.
With their eyes set on even greater heights, Paige and Rachel aim to reach half a million in sales by the end of 2025.
They also aspire to be more selective with the weddings they take on, allowing Rachel to focus on projects that truly excite her.
Hiring additional staff now, in preparation for future growth, is a strategic move to ensure they continue on their upward trajectory.
