TikTok: A Puzzle to Solve

TikTok is not just a platform for teens to share funny videos anymore. It has become a powerful marketing tool for businesses, including wedding planners.

TikTok is a social media platform that allows users to create and share short-form videos. With over a billion active users, TikTok has become one of the most popular social media platforms in the world.

On this episode of the podcast, we will discuss how wedding planners can get business from TikTok.

We will provide practical tips that will help you leverage this platform to grow your business.

“TikTok is not just a platform for teens to share funny videos anymore. It has become a powerful marketing tool for businesses, including wedding planners.”

Meagan’s background in marketing and communications led her to approach TikTok as a puzzle to solve.

She saw that while brands weren’t yet on the platform, there were many engaged couples and brides using the app to share advice and connect with others going through the same experience.

However, there was no one on the app offering professional advice to these stressed-out brides and grooms. Meagan saw an opportunity to fill this gap and provide valuable information to those in need.

“With weddings being postponed or cancelled left and right, many couples were left feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to do next. Culkin saw an opportunity to help by using her TikTok platform to share tips and advice with couples who were struggling.”

How TikTok Helped Culkin Tame the Scary Crowd of Angry Brides

As a wedding planner during the pandemic, Meagan was noticing how uneasy people were becoming. From last-minute cancellations to vendor no-shows, she was experiencing nearly every kind of wedding-related crisis. But when the pandemic hit, Culkin found her TikTok feed recommending her a new kind of content: angry brides.

With weddings being postponed or cancelled left and right, many couples were left feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to do next. Culkin saw an opportunity to help by using her TikTok platform to share tips and advice with couples who were struggling.

She started by answering questions in the comment section, but she soon realized that responding to a TikTok with a TikTok, garnered more attention and provided a solution to the angry bride’s pain point. This became the most effective way to reach her target audience!!

Finding Success on TikTok as a Wedding Pro

Meagan’s videos began to gain traction, as she continued to provide answers to the questions being asked.

Soon she was getting requests for more personalized advice.

By positioning herself as a professional in the wedding industry and providing valuable information, Meagan was able to establish herself as an authority on TikTok and gain a following of engaged couples and brides.

This is Meagan’s free guide to help you develop quality content on your social media platforms!

“I had no thought or inclination of it going viral at all,” Culkin shared. “I would say I probably had 1200 followers when I made that video, maybe like a month or two into posting. And I gained 5,000 followers from that video.”

Crafting a Viral Video on TikTok

Meagan Culkin’s first viral video was a DIY craft tutorial that she made using items from the Dollar Tree store. She was making a foam poster board and sticking fake florals in the background to create a backdrop. Little did she know that this video would change her life forever.

“I had no thought or inclination of it going viral at all,” Culkin shared. “I would say I probably had 1200 followers when I made that video, maybe like a month or two into posting. And I gained 5,000 followers from that video.”

However, the story doesn’t end there. Culkin’s craft video did more than just increase her followers. It also taught her the power of algorithms and how they can work in your favor if you use them correctly.

For six weeks after that video, Culkin made sure to film all of her content in front of that same backdrop. “If anyone asked me a question, I would film it in front of that backdrop that I had made because the algorithm at the time, they would just see this and be like, oh, people wanna see this content, right? They wanna see this flower wall.”

Tips for Making Viral Videos

So, what can we learn from Meagan Culkin’s viral video experience? Here are some tips for making your own viral videos:

1. Be Authentic

Culkin’s video was successful because she was authentic and genuine. She wasn’t trying to sell anything or be something she wasn’t. People respond well to authenticity and will engage with content that is relatable and honest.

2. Use the Right Keywords

Culkin’s video was successful because she used the right keywords in her content. By using the same backdrop, she was able to create a brand identity that people could recognize and engage with.

3. Engage with Your Audience

Culkin’s video was successful because she engaged with her audience. She responded to comments and made sure to film all of her content in front of the same backdrop, which helped create a sense of familiarity and recognition for her followers.

4. Be Consistent

Culkin’s video was successful because she was consistent. She continued to create content in front of the same backdrop, which helped her followers recognize her content and engage with it more.
