Let’s get real for a second, CEO. If you want this year to be the best year you’ve ever had in your wedding business, it’s not gonna be because you finally perfected your Instagram aesthetic or “manifested” better clients. It’s going to be because you committed to doing four very specific, very unsexy things.
I recently watched a video from Alex Hormozi that honestly punched me in the gut. I took his framework and translated it straight into our world—the world of weddings, back-to-back weekends, inquiries, and those “fun” family rain plans.
If you’re listening while you’re editing galleries, driving to a venue, or stuffing welcome bags, this is your sign. This is your year to stop playing business and start running your company like a legitimate CEO.
Step one to completely changing your business over the next 12 months is elimination. You do not build a business based on what you say you care about; you build it based on what you actually do.
I want you to open two things right now: your calendar and your bank statement from the last 30 days. Most wedding pros say they want more inquiries or higher prices, but their data shows hours mindlessly scrolling reels and $0 spent on sales training or a CRM that actually works.
“If someone only saw my calendar and my expenses, would they believe I’m building a six or seven-figure wedding business, or that I’m just trying to survive another wedding season?”
It’s not just about money, though—it’s about people. The friends and vendor peers who complain about the economy or “crazy brides” are keeping you small. To become the exception, you have to be exceptional, and that often means shedding that “outer layer” of negative influences.
We spend years “brainstorming” and “Trello-boarding” because we’re afraid to be bad at something. But here’s the secret: It only takes about 20 hours of focused effort to get decent at almost anything. The 85-year-old version of you doesn’t care about that Sunday you spent watching football; she cares about whether you built a life you’re proud of. Stop waiting for the “perfect” time to learn how to sell or how to post video content.
“Suck at it. No one’s actually watching anyway… all of a sudden you’re gonna start to get better and all of a sudden the algorithm’s gonna start bringing the right people to you.”
I use the analogy of watching my daughters play volleyball. I can sit on those cold bleachers for hundreds of hours, but I still couldn’t get the ball over the net because I’m not on the court practicing. Get in the game. Commit 20 focused hours to one skill this month.
Ambitious people don’t buy more “stuff”—they invest in buying skills. Trying doesn’t get you paid; improving gets you paid. Most of you don’t have a “not enough time” problem; you have a priorities problem. You’re choosing a new dress for every wedding over a sales coach.
In my own business, I allot 10% of our total gross revenue to education every single year. When you invest in a mastermind or a course, your mission is to become the teacher’s pet.
“If you invest $2,000, I want $20,000 back. If I invest $10,000, I want a hundred thousand dollars back. And that happens for me every single time because I know that I’m gonna go in and I’m gonna take the action.”
Bet big on yourself this year. Conferences and coaching aren’t “nice to haves” for later; they are how you buy back your time.
I want you to build a “Failure Resume.” If you want to win faster, you have to be willing to lose more. Failure is like sandpaper—it hurts, but its purpose is to make the final product smoother and more perfect.
The biggest mistake I see? Wedding pros who rebrand every year or change their offers every season because they didn’t see results in two weeks. They bounce from Instagram to TikTok to Threads without ever pushing through the “hard” part.
“Consistency isn’t about posting every day when you feel inspired. Consistency is the complete opposite. It’s about doing what works, even when you’re bored or you don’t feel like it.”
Success isn’t a three-minute wedding highlight film; it’s the months of emails, site visits, and hard work that nobody sees. When it’s working, do more. When it’s not working, don’t quit—just do it differently.
CEO, I know you have a fire in you. You didn’t start this business just to “get by” or survive another busy season. You started it to build a life of freedom, profit, and impact. But that life requires a different version of you—the one who stops making excuses and starts making moves.

Let’s stay connected:
Q1: How do I know which skill to focus on first?
Answer: Ask yourself: “What is costing me the most money right now?” If you have leads but no bookings, focus on Sales. If you have no leads, focus on Marketing/Content. If you’re overwhelmed and losing emails, focus on your CRM/Systems.
Q2: Is 10% for education a hard rule?
Answer: It’s a goal! If you’re just starting, even $50 or $100 a month set aside specifically for a course or a strategy day makes a difference. The point is to stop spending that money on “business decor” and start spending it on your brain.
Q3: What if I feel like I’m failing more than my peers?
Answer: Then you’re probably doing more than they are! The highest-earning CEOs have the longest failure resumes. Every “no” on a sales call is just a data point helping you get to your next “yes.”
Q4: How do I stop the “Shiny Object Syndrome”?
Answer: Pick one goal and stick to it for 90 days. No rebrands, no new website themes, no jumping platforms. If you feel the urge to change lanes, remind yourself that you haven’t even finished the first 20 hours of practice yet!
